Masking tape is versatile and we often use as a base to cover shiny surfaces so that the paint sets better, but it is also great for forming geometrical shapes, lines and to hold paper in position.

Vinyl glue is probably the one thing we use the most. We like decoupage, therefore we use vinyl glue mixed with water to decorate with paper, comics and magazines.

Acrylics are our favourite paint type because of the rich texture and their versatile use.

The craft materials we prefer to upcycle are magazines, comics, boxes of every shape and size and especially cereal boxes and shoe boxes – these types are the ones we have a lot of and that says it all about us! – juice cartons, loo rolls and wooden pegs.

Magazine pages are great to decorate as well as to actually make objects. We made a complete table set out of colourful magazine pages including geometrical coasters, napkin rings and a table mat.

Comics’ strips are probably our favourite decoration for decoupage. The look is very pop art like and we love it. Check out our comics’ shelf, ice cream pots and a funky rocking chair made out of pegs.

Cereal boxes are great to make all sorts of stuff, we like making desk files, storage bags and even animal masks.

Shoe boxes are so versatile that you can really get your imagination going with them. As well as some funky storage boxes we made a double-decker bus, some bright hanging shelves and a fun ball game.

Juice cartons are perfect for making things, not only they are sturdy they are actually very nice to look at just as they are so you don’t even need to paint them. Juice cartons in our house have found a new life as pencil storage cases and as a toy dumper truck.

Loo rolls have become pencil holders and cute animals and the wooden pegs have found new life halved and whole. We have built a pegs raft, a pegs crocodile and decorated pegs keeping their original function, but making them look more appealing to hang drawings in children’s rooms.
