I have recently discovered a fantastic website with great ideas for art and crafts projects to do with children aged 3-6. All projects are created by Kerri Sellens a mother of 2 with over 10 years experience of running art workshops for children.

As well as the originality of the projects I love the fact that they are made with recycling in mind, instead of buying art materials to entertain your kids you just recycle what you would normally throw away. Creative Charlie gives you ideas and step to step instructions on how to finish the projects.

Their great art and crafts boxes with everything you need to finish the project make a fantastic gift. Choose from the paint your own T-shirt, make hats, make jewellery, make masks and the travel pack.

I picked the rainy day box which won the Practical Pre-School Awards 2008 for the Toys and Games category. The box has all you need for making butterflies, a mobile, a pompom pet and puppets. Materials include 25 sheets of recycled sugar paper, 5 sheets of recycled card and several sheets of wallpaper. All paints and glue are wheat, gluten and nut oil free and the beeswax crayons are made with non chemical wax. There is even an apron made by a woman’s cooperative in the Philippine from recycled juice packs. If you are left handed make sure to let them know when you order and they will even provide left handed scissors.
