Monday crafts: Rudolf the Christmas sock

Submitted by on November 29, 2010 – 4:39 am2 Comments

When Only Dads, a support website for single dads was approached to decorate a large Christmas tree in the Dartington Hall Trust, Bob Greig, the single father behind this great organization came up with the idea to decorate the tree with odd socks. The socks can be plain or artistically decorated by children, but most importantly they should contain a note with a special message from the kids to their dads.

This is the sock we sent to join this fabulous project. To make our Rudolf sock, we built one of the little balls we usually make with newspaper pages and painted it red, we cut two horns out of yellow felt and two eye shapes out of white card. We glued the nose on the toe extremity of the sock and I sewed the horns to the heel. After placing a special message inside, we tied the sock with a piece of gold ribbon.
