The last post in the Christmas craft series focuses on Christmas cards. We made a few different types out of thick red paper, which we decorated with a mix of materials including magazine paper, glitter glue, metallic pens and felt. We love our good old felt; it is such a versatile material! We used it for all our Christmas crafts so we couldn’t leave it out of our card making project and that way we had the opportunity to finish all the little cuttings we had left over.

We cut the card to fit the white envelopes we bought separately. This is very important because the last thing you want is to make very pretty cards that won’t fit any envelopes. christmas-cards-craftsThen, we decorated the front with Christmas trees, stars and bells made out of felt and magazine paper. Magazine paper is perfect for creating the gold leaf effect. Once you have the shape you want, colour it in with a metal effect pen; we used gold but any other metal finish is fine. Then glue the magazine cutting on the card and you’ll have a perfect texture. The other art material we found very useful throughout our Christmas crafts is glitter glue, which we used to add a few finishing touches such as sparkle effects on the felt, a bow on the Christmas bells and even glittery Merry Christmas wishes.

To decorate the envelopes we simply drew a little Christmas icon on the top left corner with our fab metallic pens.
