Family fun events at the V&A

Submitted by on November 9, 2012 – 4:29 amOne Comment

You know how much I love museum activities for kids and families and The V&A has a great program at weekends and during half term and school holidays. If you are in London on the 25th of November you shouldn’t miss the Diwali event at the Sackler Centre from 10.30 to 17.00. Besides joining in the fun of making Rangoli you can take part in a giant musical snakes and ladders game.  For those who are not familiar with this type of art, a Rangoli is a traditional Indian floor decoration made with various coloured pigments or pulses. All events are free and drop in.

The workshop that intrigues me the most is the Drop in Design taking place every Sunday from 10.30 to 5pm: you can pick up a design challenge, explore the museum for ideas and make your very own design with the materials provided. This Sunday the theme is Parade of the Animals, children will need to explore the museum for animal features to then incorporate in their own mask, headdress or cape. For more information on this event and similar ones visit the family and art fun calendar on the V&A website.
