How to make a toy dumper truck out of a juice carton
Today I have a nice little recycling project that turned out to be a functional toy. I am in recycling juice cartons mode at the moment so I decided to make a dumper truck from a juice carton and 4 water bottle lids. To make this truck you need: 1 juice carton, 4 plastic lids, two kebab wooden sticks, glue, scissors, scalpel, a cardboard box like those risotto rice comes in, garden wire, a piece of string.
1. Wash the carton and allow for it to dry. Position the carton horizontally and cut the top layer three quarters in length leaving one end for the driving cabin.
2. Make sure you cut the carton with care as one of the pieces will be the open box that will sit on the back of the truck.
3. Cover the edges of the open box with construction paper to avoid sharp edges.
4. Pierce two holes at the back of the dumper and on the base and connect with garden wire to connect the two and allow for the dumper to move up and down.
5. Punch a tiny hole in the centre of each of the plastic lids and make two pairs of wheels connected by the kebab sticks. You will need to adjust the length of the sticks according to the width of the truck. Cover the sharp edges of the sticks with play dough.
6. Attach the wheels to the bottom of the truck with strong tape.
7. Cut the cardboard box to slot on top of the cabin and attach square pieces of paper to make the windows and windscreen.
8. Make a loop at the front of the truck with garden wire to attach the pulling sting.

Made this, easy and fantastic. We towed Cheerios around in it, then ate them. One for rainy days and holidays.
