Christmas decorations are everywhere in the outside world, although it might be a little early to put up a tree in your lounge it doesn’t mean you cannot get things started. If in the past I was that person who left her Christmas shopping to the last minute, which resulted inevitably in hours of wandering in and out busy shops fighting over the crowds of late comers and ending up buying expensive gifts  and decorations because that is what happens when you don’t think things through properly. Today, years of experience and a child later, I am super organised and at the weekend I started making some very simple but charming Christmas decorations. Sunday afternoons I always have a craft session with my son, so yesterday we made a paper mobile to hang in his bedroom.  All you need is white paper, red tissue paper and some glitter and silver stickers (or sequins).  

Step 1- Put a mug on top of a piece of white paper and draw around it with a pencil to obtain a perfect circle.

Step 2 – Cut out the circle. Fold in half, and then fold in half again.

Step 3 – Cut little shapes out of the paper on every side including a tiny piece off the pointed end. Try out different shapes, after the first one you will be inspired by the patterns you can create.

Step 4 – Open out the circle to see the symmetrical pattern you have made and decorate the circle with glitter and stickers or sequins.

Step 5 – Put the mug on the tissue paper and draw a circle. Cut the circle out and glue to the back of the white circle.

Step 6 – Hang with thread. For best results, make a few and hang them at different heights.
