Each holiday is always font of inspiration for our crafts, before and after. We made a lot of things on the lead to Easter and now that the day has passed we are left with a lot of chocolate wrapping paper and with the plastic container the Easter egg surprise came in. After staring at it we thought it would make a good base for an owl. So we started gathering all the material to transform this plastic egg-shaped container into a hanging owl. This is what we used: egg shaped container, newspaper, adhesive tape, tissue paper, glue, paint brushes, scissors, paint, construction paper, brown paper, a drawing pin, string.

1. Make two round shapes out of newspaper and a pointy beak; attached them to the container with tape.

2. Mix a lot of glue with a little water (¾ glue and ¼ water); cover the container and the newspaper shapes with tissue and the glue and water mix using a brush. You’ll need to apply a lot of tissue to obtain a solid frame. Leave to dry for a 3 or 4 hours, alternatively you can speed up the drying process with the help of a hairdryer.

3. Paint the eyes orange, the beak black and the body brown; leave to dry. When the paint is dry, add a few details to the eyes with a fine paint brush and black paint.

4. Cut the construction paper and the brown paper into feathers and glue them all around alternating the colours.

5. Insert a drawing pin at the top and tie a piece of string around it to hang the owl.
