Valentine’s Day crafts: Heart printed paper with potato stamps
In view of Valentine’s Day next week we have made a heart printed desk file and pen holder. The best part of this craft was the printing of plain paper with potato hearts. Before starting I made a heart shape stamp with a potato by simply cutting the shape out with a scalpel; this part can be dangerous so it must be done by an adult. Once the stamp was ready the fun started. To print the paper all you have to do is dip the stamp in paint – we used red acrylic, but any colour is good– and press it on your paper many times. Allow for the prints to dry before use.
To make the desk file, you need an empty cereal box, glue, tape, scissors, the paper you have just printed, crease paper.
1. Cut the shape of a desk file and reinforce the edges with tape; cut a piece of paper for each of the file’s sides and attach with glue.
2. Finish the edges with strips of crease paper.
To make the pen holder, you need a piece of potato printed paper cut to size, glue and a tomato tin. Coat the inside of the tin with glue to protect it from rusting and attach the strip of paper to the outside of the tin with glue.
