Fresh fruit kids will actually enjoy…
With the hot weather all I ever want to eat is fresh fruit and vegetables. Thankfully my son doesn’t need any extra encouragement to eat fruit as he is equally happy biting an apple or a peach as he is with a more sophisticated fruit salad. However for those children who need a little push, this cantaloupe melon monkey face might just give the encouragement they need. It is very easy to make and it looks masterful on the table if you have friends over for an afternoon garden gathering or you simply want to make fruit fun for your children. Hands-on kids might enjoy helping to build the monkey face.
To make this fun fruit sculpture, all you need is a ripe cantaloupe melon and two small plums or cherries for the eyes. For best results the slices should be as equal as possible. Place 4 wedges facing up, then insert more melon slices skin up in between the ones already on the plate. Place one slice on the left and one on the right of the main body to create the ears, while two wedges flesh facing each other below will make the mouth. Add the round fruit to obtain the eyes and the monkey face is complete. For step by step images and instructions visit Instructables where I found this amusing way to serve melon.
