I like keeping little mementos of special days out and holidays, maps, theatre tickets, sports events  and anything that is a memory of a special moment in our life. I have not yet entered the wonderful world of scrapbooking, though I admire it and I get a lot of inspiration from the amazing works that are out there. Scrapbooking is definitely something I would like to get into in the future so I thought I would start with a small project that more than a scrapbook is a scrap picture. The idea came to me while at the adventure park we visited on my son’s birthday. He wanted to buy one of those over priced photos they take while you are on a ride: we have a couple of those from previous outings and we rarely look at them so I promised I would make a nice memory poster to put on his bedroom wall which would be a nice memory of his special day.
I used a piece of plywood left over from a previous project and I covered it with one of the two maps of the adventure park. I made a pocket with a cork like paper to hold the tickets and with the same paper I made a holder to keep the other map. That way the map can be unfolded and looked at if he wishes to in the future. I added a few details by ripping a piece of paper, which I aged with a grey powder. I used a piece of rope to write his name in the middle of the board.
Then I pinned a couple of pictures from our day. The board can either be hung from the wall or rest on a shelf. A quick, easy and cost effective memory of my son’s 11th birthday.
