We took a piece of sturdy cardboard already cut to measure, which we painted with a dark blue base. When the paint was still wet we painted over it with white paint using the same brushes we used for the blue to obtain an uneven lighter blue effect.

While the cardboard was drying we made three snakes by twisting two different colour tissues together for each snake. We also shaped the snakes’ head and applied a forked tongue to make them look more like the real thing. With a cutter I cut the ladders from the remaining cardboard and we painted them a golden acrylic colour.

Once the cardboard was completely dry we divided the space and drew vertical and horizontal lines with a marker to make 60 squares. We wrote the numbers in each square and attached the snakes and ladders randomly on the board.

You can opt to keep the snakes and ladders mobile and arrange them differently at every game.   We decided to glue them on to keep the game in one piece and avoid losing some of it along the way.
