School dinners in Italy

This is the typical menu of an Italian primary school. Children get a three course meal, which is different everyday to cover a well balanced diet. The menu changes every week on a five week cycle and then rotates until the end of the school year.

Monday

Farfalle (butterfly shaped pasta) with pesto; veal escalope in tomato sauce and oregano; French bean and carrot salad; bread; crème caramel

Tuesday

Pizza; Parma ham; tomato salad and bread; fresh fruit

Wednesday

Vegetable risotto; cod fillets; carrot and cauliflower salad; bread; fresh fruit

Thursday

Ravioli in tomato sauce; pecorino cheese or mozzarella; green salad with fennel; bread; yogurt

Friday

Soup; chicken breast in lemon sauce; roast potatoes and mushrooms; bread; fresh fruit
