Photo Friday: A visit to the Tate Modern

These photos were taken during our visits to the Tate Modern in London last March. The first photo is a shot of the TH2058 exhibition in the Turbine Hall, which is the futuristic vision of London under attack by artist Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster consisting of 200 bunk beds where people would find shelter 50 years from now – not a nice thought but hey modern art calls for drastic vision. The whole thing was very weird with a giant spider structure overhead, the sound of water running in the background and nothing but old books on every bed; they were copies of 20 classic science fiction titles. Luca was more impressed with the interaction area upstairs where he had fun putting together Salvador Dali style pictures. These shots show how into it he was and his discontent when it was time to go.

I love that spider looking thing. The great thing about modern art is that while not everything appeals to everyone, there is usually something that appeals to someone in a way that they may not have ever appreciated before.

I love the Tate….can’t wait to make a trip to London so my kids can experience it first hand, too.

Look like a cool museum. Definitely will be on our list when we make it to Europe.
