These pictures are from last year’s visit to the Model Village of Bourton-on-the-Water, which is an exact reproduction of the town in a 1:9 scale. The model village is built with the same Cotswold stone used for the original town and reproduces everything in fine detail including the river that flows from the working watermill throughout the village.  Shop windows have items on display and from the

Church of St Lawrence can be heard the voices of the choir. My little boy felt like a giant walking down the miniature streets and looking into the gardens from an unusual perspective. For more Photo Friday sharing visit Delicious Baby.

  • What amazing detail! It looks like you could take a stroll right down the little road!

  • Dominique says:

Wow..I didn’t realize at first how small this was. Pretty amazing reproduction I’d guess!

  • Caitlin says:

I’ve been here! It’s one of the more touristy places in the Cotswolds but it’s fun with kids.

Came here via DeliciousBaby. May I suggest that you link your most recent post rather than the main URL of your site to the PhotoFriday posts? This is what Debbie asks people to do and it also means that latecomers will still go to the right post rather than being confused if they come a few days later and there are new posts on top.

Hi Caitlin thanks for pointing out about the linking, I didn’t realise that was the case, I will link from the post next time!

  • My god it looks so real. If you didn’t have pictures with people in them,I would never think this was a model.

  • maria says:

Hi Marina, I know it looks unbelievably real! The model village is actually in the Old New Inn’s garden and was built in the early thirties by an earlier inn owner and a team of local craftsmen. The replica of the inn actually has the reproduction of the model village itself in the garden including the river and bridges.

  • This sets a new benchmark for kid-friendly! I can imagine my children enraptured with this wonderful village, so well suited for their perspective!
