We recently started reading The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) by Roald Dahl. This is the first long book we read, and with a chapter a night we needed something to bookmark our pages so instead of buying a bookmark we made one together. The cat bookmark was a success and fun to make, all you need is card or thick paper, glue, scissors, a pencil and colouring pens or crayons.

First draw a cat’s head and two paws on a piece of paper and colour them in. Step 2: cut around the shape and put it on top of another piece of paper. Draw around the shape with a pencil.

Step 3: Draw the body of the cat under the pencil outline and colour it with pens or crayons, whichever your child is most comfortable with. You don’t need to colour the head and paws at the top because the outline goes under the first piece of paper you have already cut.

Step 4: Cut around the whole shape and put glue on the top part of the head, then stick the head shape on top lining up the ears. Leave it until dry.
